An evening of live music inspired by live painting and vice-versa. Featuring the Antoine Drye Quartet with Jazz luminary guitarist Bill Frisell and artist Jim Watt.
This free BYOB event will occur indoors at Collab Fabrication Lab & Innovation Studio, with a suggested donation of $20 to support the evening's band.
Throughout the evening, Watt will continue to paint towards his goal of 1000 ink washes with Japanese Sumi ink and water. This process will be captured and projected from overhead onto a large wall while luminary Bill Frisell performs on the jazz guitar with renowned jazz trumpeter, Antoine Drye, and a selection of musicians (on this night, Alvester Garnett on drums and Barry Stephenson on bass). The music will help to inform the paintings, while the visual displays of ink washes being created, as well as the intimacy of our surroundings, will inform the musicians.
Jim’s paintings, priced at $350, will be available for purchase, with funds going to the jazz community.
1000W is is a unique collaboration of art, music, photography and filmmaking. The project seeks to raise $100,000 for the jazz community, which has been especially hard hit during the Covid-19 pandemic. Learn more at www.jimwatt.org/1000w
